1965 Porsche 356C - Auction - Halstead, Essex - Introduced in 1963, the Porsche 356 C was an updated version of the type B, and was the final incarnation of the venerable type 356. There were numerous minor alterations to the fittings, the major changes being mechanical, including all round disc brakes which sat within new 15 inch wheels, along with improved suspension. Presented here is a 1965 model C Coup. This late model 356 benefits from the many upgrades that occurred throughout the model run, including disc brakes and a more powerful engine. The Signal Red paintwork is in excellent condition throughout, and the black interior looks factory fresh.Delivered new to California, this charming little 356 was was comprehensively restored and has seen very little use since. The interior is in excellent condition and showing little wear; and on closer inspection the underneath of this 356 is very clean indeed - an example of a well preserved 356 that has clearly enjoyed the dry Californian climate.Starting easily and settling to that familiar air-cooled idle, ample low-rev torque the car performs well. The disc brakes have reassuring reserve of power, feeling far more modern in their capability than is suggested by the 1960s origin of the car. In fine fettle, such as this example, it is clear why the 356 is the genesis of the rear-engine Porsche experience.
