1965 Porsche 356C - $82,995 - San Carlos, CA - This is a matching numbers, local, original black plate Porsche 356C. Odometer shows 43,663 miles (we cannot confirm if original or not). Engine and gearbox have been rebuilt like new and they are in great shape. We have the certificate of authenticity from Porsche that verifies the numbers stamped into the engine and gearbox as being original. We have numerous receipts from three of the owners encompassing recent service, all of the engine work and new parts that were ordered recently.
The previous owner of the car was a very well known 356 expert. He is the owner of a respected body and paint shop that specializes in the service and restoration of Porsche 356 and 911s. He performed all of the paint and body work on the car which involved stripping it down to bare metal and finishing every panel to a near mirror finish. The panel fit is as good as or better than new. It has been represented to us as retaining all original body panels and has never been hit. A quick perusal will verify that at least the decklid is original as you can easily see last two digits of the chassis number stamped into it. The battery tray has been replaced due to battery acid leakage over the years (this is very common). The floor pans and longitudinals are in excellent condition. We can say with confidence that it is a rust free car.
The engine was built by Competition Engineering in 1993. It was gone through again in 1999 for a second set of changes and lastly in 2005. It has been fitted with Webers. Although to look at the motor it appears 100% original. This was achieved by modifying the original Knecht air cleaners to fit over the Webers. The motor has covered approximately 10k miles since completion and is barely broken in.
